This event is part of our special focus examining 'Death from all angles' during May in response to Hospice UK Dying Matters Awareness Week, 6-12 May.
Ann Kenrick will lead an informative, entertaining and thought-provoking session outlining key decisions you can make in advance to ease the burden on your family and friends if you lose mental capacity. Experience shows that planning ahead can help those you love immeasurably and not doing so can cause serious family rifts. When a family knows your wishes, this can provide some certainty and comfort during a difficult time. Areas covered will include:
- Why you need a will and why you should keep it up to date;
- Why it is important to record your wishes if you lose physical or mental capacity;
- Why it is crucial to have Lasting Powers of Attorney for financial affairs and for health in place
- How to have important delicate and tender conversations with family and friends
This all may sound complex, challenging and difficult. But learn how simple it is to get these sorted and to consider matters like the type of funeral you would like; and vital matters in place like sharing passwords, decisions on your social media profiles, decluttering and considering your digital legacy.
Join us to examine this often taboo topic and start your journey towards getting your plan in place. Book your place here
End of life decisions can be overwhelming, but making these choices while you are physically and mentally healthy is much easier and gives you total control and peace of mind. With Ann’s step-by-step guide to death planning, you can prepare for some things, most things, anything or everything. You can choose what area or areas you would like to undertake at any one time. By the end of the session, you will have a clear sense of where you want or need to make a start.
Feedback from a recent talk given in Dulwich included:
- Such a good mix of factually informative, rigorous and comprehensive but also personal and informal. A very different thing to achieve in a short session with so much potential material to cover.
- Thinking and talking about death and dying in such a positive and constructive way felt life-affirming.
- This is such a valuable initiative and I hope that you can continue to offer these sessions.
- Good – informative, well structured and wide ranging; jogged me into thinking about the small but important details
- Turned out to be more light hearted than I expected
- Good to be reminded of things not done yet
This talk will be led by Ann Kenrick
