Free 'making' workshop - part of London Festival of Architecture

11am-3.30pm
The West Norwood Cemetery has a policy of keeping all natural materials on site. The architecture practice A Small Studio is holding a 'making workshop' to create panels with surfaces that incorporate materials from the cemetery, such as soil, felled branches from the trees, wood and/or waste from the site. The panels will form part of an ongoing project to explore craft techniques and develop community-led architectural surface materials.

This is a FREE workshop, but places are limited, so booking is essential - though there will be some drop-in places too, if you find the bookings all full.
There are no age restrictions and this will be a fully accessible event.

More information on the London Festival of Architecture and how to book places on this workshop can be found HERE.

This is part of an ongoing outreach programme as the cemetery undertakes a significant project that seeks to conserve the Cemetery’s magnificent landscape and built structures, as well as offer new experiences and facilities to increase community use. This is being funded by London Borough of Lambeth with National Lottery funding, awarded jointly by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) and the Big Lottery Fund, and Friends of West Norwood Cemetery, and with the support of Norwood Forum and the wider community.

Come and join us to learn how you can recycle, re-use and bind natural materials with other model-making equipment. You will be part of a long-term project that West Norwood Cemetery is undertaking that celebrates its green assets in collaboration with the local community.

We need to ensure there are enough materials available for participants. So, we will be managing numbers with the Eventbrite link. We will have a few ‘drop-in’ spaces available but these will be taken on a first-come first serve basis and are not guaranteed, so please book a space if you can to avoid disappointment.

If you have any queries about the workshop, especially about accessibility, please contact Kim Hart: khart@lambeth.gov.uk
