Along the route of Lambeth's largest watercourse, we will take in the surviving landscape and streetscape clues to its presence and observe the influence the river and its periodic floods had on the development of West Norwood, both before and after its disappearance underground into a sewer in the 1860s.
Jon Newman, who leads the walk, is a writer and archivist who has specialised in researching South London's underground rivers and is the author of River Effra, South London's Secret Spine.
