This is your chance to investigate the underlying rocks and soils in our cemetery with Dr Iain Boulton (you may already have been on one of his famous bat walks!) - and learn about how they influence the hydrology (movement and distribution of water) and ultimately our trees and other flora. We will be looking at maps - and also doing some sampling - come prepared to get a little bit muddy!

Suitable for all ages, but 8yrs and older will probably have the most fun. Come prepared for all weathers with appropriate shoes for walking off the paths.

Meet at the West Norwood Cemetery stall at our Open Day (11am-3pm) in the entrance to the cemetery on the corner of Norwood Road and Robson Road.
Just bring yourselves, no experience required and all equipment will be provided.

Iain works for Lambeth Landscapes, which is responsible for the maintenance of Lambeth’s 65 parks, commons and cemeteries. He acts as the borough’s ecologist, working to ensure Lambeth’s wildlife and nature conservation sites are suitably managed to protect them. He is also responsible for helping to raise awareness to local residents and communities of Lambeth’s rich biodiversity, supporting them to look after and help improve the borough’s wildlife sites for the benefit of people and nature alike.
