Urban birdwatching for beginners with urban nature writer Amanda Tuke

Join naturalist and nature writer Amanda Tuke in the Cemetery before it opens to the public. Amanda writes the 30-minute birder column in Bird Watching Magazine, the UK’s best-selling magazine for birders, and is fascinated by different ways of learning bird identification. This completely FREE event is suitable for adults and accompanied children aged 11+ (only one child per adult).

During the workshop you’ll be working through steps for bird identification, looking and listening out for the birds in the Cemetery, and collecting tips for finding and identifying common urban birds.

What you’ll need to bring:

  • a notebook & pen/pencil (essential)
  • a smartphone with the free Merlin bird ID app installed (optional - can be downloaded here https://merlin.allaboutbirds.org/)
  • & a pair of binoculars if you have them (optional).

And please wear clothes and shoes suitable for being outside in any weather and walking on rough grass.
