Maria Cassavetti, 1843-1914
Maria was an artist. One of her sculptures was shown at the Royal Academy in 1887. She later moved to Paris, where she continued to sculpt in bronze alongside the famous sculptor Auguste Rodin. She also modelled for the pre-Raphaelite painters. Maria was one of the 'Three Graces' in Edward Burne-Jones's painting, ‘The Mill’. Her bronze art medals are in the collection of the British Museum
