Annual Memorial Service

2pm-4pm
This event celebrates the joy and hope of this time of year, together with the whole community invited to the Annual Memorial Service in West Norwood Cemetery Chapel.
This year the service will include live music provided by local musicians.
Everyone is very welcome to attend. You do not need to have a specific relationship with West Norwood Cemetery. Please click on the headline for more information ...

Family and Friends are invited to place a remembrance card on the Memory Tree and there will be a Role of Honour for those whose services have taken place here in the last twelve months.

Light refreshments will be served after the service.

The service will be led as usual by Donald Davis, vicar of St Luke's Church, and we are really pleased that this year it will include live music, all provided by local musicians.

Our organist will be Lee Michael Walton
Lee is a music mentor, composer, pianist and organist. Originally from the Swansea valley, Lee grew up inspired by the rich, choral tradition of singing in Welsh- his first language. Lee fuses his traditional influences with a wide range of genres, as evident in the release of his first album, in 2020 -‘The Beginning Is Here.’

We will hear a beautiful performance of Panis Angelicus, by César Franck, sung by young soloist Sophie James
Sophie James is a music scholar, studying voice, clarinet and piano.
Over the past two years, Sophie has performed at some of London’s major concert venues, covering a wide variety of musical genres.

The music we enter and leave the service by, will be played by local musician, Netty Rhodes.
Netty followed a career in social work before turning a passion for the recorder into a profession. In 2005 she was awarded a Masters Degree from the Royal College of Music, where she studied recorder with Ashley Solomon (early music), and Julien Feltrin (contemporary).

And our carol singing will be led by Martyn Harris.

The Chapel is in the center of the cemetery, so please allow up to 15mins to walk there from the main entrance on the corner of Norwood Road and Robson Road. If you are driving, you may drive up to the chapel where parking is available. The chapel is fully accessible and there are also accessible toilets.

There is no need to book your place at the service, please just turn up.
