Zoe Hodgson: Screen printing workshop with natural dyes

Workshop for paper screen printing with natural dyes. Participants will:

  • Learn how to make printable natural dye ink for screen printing on paper and fabric.
  • Make paper stencil designs.
  • Make multiple layered paper prints.
  • Paper and ink will be provided.

Zoe Hodgson MA(RCA) is an artist and materials researcher, who works as a University Technical Associate. She is a printmaking specialist, expert in many techniques, more recently focused on bio material and natural dyes. Her practice explores both new and traditional technologies ranging from laser etching to woven bio materials made of waste. She has been refining screen printing natural dye techniques for paper and fabric, making inks from a mix of foraged, food waste and traditional dyestuff.

Please note: Participants should bring an apron or old tshirt to wear for protection.

This event is part of the celebrations to mark the completion of a six year National Lottery Heritage Fund project: 'A New Beginning' designed to conserve the Cemetery’s magnificent landscape and architecture, as well as offer new experiences and facilities to increase community use.
