National Lottery Heritage Fund Bid Success!

Following two years of development, consultation and specialist input, we are thrilled to announce that West Norwood Cemetery has been successful in its bid to secure a National Lottery Heritage Fund of £4.6m. Lambeth Council and the Friends of West Norwood Cemetery will also contribute an additional £2.1m, bringing the total investment to £6.7m.

So, what can you expect to see? From April 2019, a five-year delivery plan will begin working towards:

Heritage Lottery Fund Bid - Submitted

After two years of extensive research and development, the West Norwood Cemetery bid was officially submitted to the Heritage Lottery Fund at the end of August and we expect to receive the outcome in January 2019. Our sincere thanks to all of you who shared opinions on the plans, participated in consultations and offered general support to the project - every single conversation and interaction was extremely valuable in helping to create a strong bid proposal.

Activities Plan Feedback

Over the last 7 months, the team have been working hard on creating an exciting Activities Plan, designed to appeal to a wide range of people and interests.

Planning Application Update

Six planning applications have now been submitted to Lambeth’s Planning Department for review and consideration.

Open Day Success!

Sunday 1 July saw a new and refreshed Open Day at the cemetery with a wide range of activities and information on offer. Despite soaring temperatures, we were thrilled to see up to 300 visitors come through the gates to explore and take part. Highlights included fantastic turn-outs for all of our programmed walks and talks, along with engaging and positive conversations about the Heritage Lottery Fund bid future plans.
